Did not use the business,. Called in to get alternator replaced. The lady said if you want to diagnose it’s $85 additional. This diagnosis is free at stores like oreilly parts and takes less than 3 minutes. I tried to explain her that wouldn’t you do a basic diagnosis even before anyways replacing the alternator and she said no. I didn’t get a good vibe and friendly message here. I get it that if I would have called and said I have a battery light - they charge $85 for diagnostic. But here I have them information and expect them to do a quick double check if the alternator is indeed bad. When I mentioned I don’t want to move ahead in that case, she didn’t care for the getting the business . Looks like they have enough :) (which is great and am happy for them). No ill feelings but I felt that the business values $$ more than customer satisfaction. A 3 min diagnostic should not be $85. This shop wanted to fix things that were simply were just fine. One item in particular that was a red flag to me is they wanted to change my oil and said "The oil is dark and needs to be changed," when I changed it myself 6 days before bringing it in. That was a bad first impression for me, and made me feel like I couldn't trust them to work on my vehicle. The cost of labor is very high @ $170/hr (average for Bellevue is $130 to $160). They also choose the most expensive materials, but I would like to have a choice in how costly the materials are.
