McIntosh is THE place in Charleston to take your vintage Landcruiser (and apparently any other Toyota or Lexus). Other shops in town don't want to work on older vehicles. Terry and his crew not only work on them, they do so with an enthusiast appreciation and level of care. I had a problem in the front end of my truck that perplexed me for months and Terry and his crew jumped right in and remedied it in a matter of days. They are busy and for good reason. Recommend without hesitation. Great experience. Really enjoyed meeting and working with Terry.

I went to get a diagnostic confirmation done, as our regular Larson’s Automotive advised to do based on an emissions light indicator. It took three months for someone to actually return my call, but was pleasant when they finally were able to do so. What should have only been a gas cap replacement, ended costing me $1,400. I was informed that the car needed a new battery, and I appreciated this information and was also told that it needed replaced valves. I agreed for those things to be done. However, they stated they were going to do a oil change and I told them that this had just been done a month ago at Larson Automotive and they were explicitly asked not to do it. When I went to pick up the car, the repairman stated he went ahead and did it anyway. They also took the liberty, without permission, to tack on other items such as windshield wipers , filters and other areas that we’re not discussed nor needed. I took my car in to have the oil changed, tires rotated, and front brake pads replaced. When I last brought my car in six months ago, they indicated that the brake pads would likely need to be replaced on this occasion. When I went to pick the car up, I noticed on the invoice that the brake pads had not been replaced. When I questioned them about it, they indicated that based on the less-than-normal number of miles I had driven over the prior six months, that there had not been as much wear on the brake pads as they suspected would have been. That being the case, there was no need to replace them at this point. So where many auto repair shops would have simply gone forward with replacing the brake pads, they instead deferred their replacement to a future date. That type of honesty is rare and commendable.
