The last honest mechanic in Manhattan! Charlie is well-known in this neighborhood as a truly honest and fair mechanic, and his expertise in diagnosing problems is unmatched. He recently resolved what I thought was a huge problem, but it was a very minor fix and he graciously did not even charge me, then parked my car in the street while I was at work (not an easy task in the West Village!). The West Village Auto Repair Shop deserves a medal! It’s the kind of auto shop that doesn’t take advantage of people, like myself, who know nothing about cars. Even if you haven’t got a clue about what’s under your hood, you’re in good hands. The owner, Shali Dean, is honest, reliable, and constantly trying to save customers money. Shali, and his right hand man Ari, are miracle workers who know how to get any job done with minimal mental and monetary stress. Over the years I have used the garage for inspections, new tires, battery problems, and general maintenance issues. Every job, small or large, is completed quickly and professionally. Recently a rat nested in my motor and snacked on all the wiring. Shali guided me through the whole nauseating process and took care of everything. When I picked up the car it ran like new and had been given a thorough, and complimentary, interior and exterior cleaning.
