I brought my diesel driven motor home in to Stan’s to replace the engine water pump, which I had inspected and found it to be seizing up. I left it in their care to perform the necessary repair. They emailed me an estimate, I was glad that I was sitting down when I saw it. Looking back, I should’ve asked what their hourly labor cost was before I left my RV at their shop. It was $300 an hr, almost $75 hr more than any other repair shop that I contacted. Their estimate was $6,218. I won’t say that I was being taken advantage of, you decide! Needless to say, I did not let them repair my RV. I picked it up as is, I was still charged $341 to be told that I needed my water pump replaced. I brought it to a factory authorized chassis repair shop, their hourly rate was $135, the bill was $3,170, almost half of the estimate at Stan’s! Lessons learned, be inquisitive, don’t be afraid to ask questions and shop around!!!
