TL:DR. If you're within travel distance of Marin and have an appreciation for quality work by a meticulous craftsman, at a fair price, you owe it to yourself to call Barry and talk to him about your bike/project. I was fortunate to find Barry and Marin Motorcycle Service while browsing for someone to repair my old R1100RT. The bike sat abandoned in my garage the past 3 years as it needed a new transmission. I'd had it out to someone else who failed to repair it and I was resigned to having to fix it myself. I'd collected a trans but just couldn't find time/space to dedicate to it. It was at the point I either needed sell off the bike I enjoy riding the most, or find someone to fix it. Its hard to find someone to work on an old bike. Its harder to find someone who'll work on an old broken bike. Every try to give someone parts you sourced? So I stumbled on Barry. Laid out my case. Expected him to tell me it was a lost cause and to move on. He didn't. He said it was worth it.
