I brought a Ford truck with a DTC 1744 to Auto Pros, and I dealt with the owner directly. I told him what I had done to try to fix the problem (replaced transmission solenoid pack) and told him that I suspected that either the torque converter was bad or that there was an electrical problem. He said he would hook up his scanner and find out. After he "performed" a pressure check, he called me and said that his scanner confirmed that the torque converter was bad. I asked if he could replace the front pump at the same time, but he said that wasn't necessary because his scanner identified that it was the torque converter. I authorized the work and paid him $899.50 when I picked up the vehicle. Within a mile of picking up my vehicle I knew the problem was not fixed and within 5 miles the check engine light came back on. I immediately called him and told him that the problem still existed. I asked him if he checked pressures again after he put in the new torque converter. He said he didn't.
