I was driving from Minnesota on a move to Oregon when my car suddenly started showing a scary issue - it was stalling right at 40 mph. It was late on a Friday, like two hours from the shops closing time. I explained my predicament and they squeezed in a diagnostic - code run (a cylinder had misfired), test drive, and look under the hood. The issue magically stopped on the test drive, and so the mechanic explained that I should be safe to drive the rest of the way, but to get it checked out at the destination. He also gave me his opinion on what the issue likely was and what it should cost, warning me that I shouldn’t let the next mechanic overcharge me. I asked if I could pay a consultation/diagnostician fee and the mechanic told me to not worry about it and wished me safe travels. Smart, honest mechanic. Cannot recommend highly enough.
