Brought my car in to check over my electrical before I wore down a new battery, like I had the day before. I installed a new battery and I had advance auto run a test to inspect alternator performance. They reported no issue. Technician at Dave Smith hooks up his battery and alternator tester, has me cycle the lights but not turn on the car (how do you test a generator without letting it generate...) Then tells me his device is reporting that it isn't producing enough power and needs to be replaced. Cool I'm game, I'll even go pick up the replacement. Test it at O'Reilly's, no issues. Decided to check at a SECOND advance auto location and again it reports no issue. Every single test required the engine to be running. It seems obvious why the technician at Dave Smith was reporting that it wasn't producing power, it wasn't connected to a running engine! I know that technician knows more about cars than I do, so I can only assume they know how to use their testers. Either they didn't kno

I've used this garage twice. Prices were fair and the service is great. Most recently, I got my inspection done here and the mechanic actually brought be out on the floor and explained what was barely passing on the car and would need attention before winter- The fact he didn't pressure me into all those extras on the spot spoke volumes on their integrity.
