Zips Auto Repair

My family has been coming to zips since as long as I can remember. I've been through probably about 7 vehicles since I got my license and and they've all been here. I trust this place, I've heard more than once "we could fix it, but I wouldn't - it's not worth doing. If it was my car I wouldn't put the money into that, it's not a safety issue." They're not the cheapest, but you're not coming back for a second repair, it's done right the first time. Getting ready to have my car repair here. I called before having the car towed to the shop and explained what was wrong and they gave me an estimate of $250. Now that it’s there, they say $600. The repair is for an 02 Jeep Liberty front passenger side ball joint. The ball joint is stuck in the arm. They even told me that replacing the whole arm might be more cost effective. I asked why so much and they told me it was because they have to put all the stuff back on the car that was unnecessarily removed. Rotors brakes etc. in the wheel and they have to do an alignment. Now I have someone telling me that it all had to come off because it’s a 4 wheel drive. I don’t know who to believe at this point.
