Went in to get a factory recall fixed on a low-pressure fuel tube, NHTSA Recall# 22VO93. Went in, signed the iPad, was told it would be of no charge to me. The next day, I get a call from my service advisor asking if they can remove a KIA installed anti-theft cage from over my catalytic converter to do the recall work- no mention of a charge during my phone conversation. I of course say sure, go for it. I then get blindsided by a text about 15-20 minutes later, saying there will be a $409 labor charge because I had to get the anti-theft cage removed to do the recall repair- very shady to me that it was not mentioned on the phone call. I try to call my advisor back, no one picks up the phone. When I go to pick up the car about 2 hours later, I get told I'm charged for two hours of mechanical labor, despite the KIA owners website directly saying this: "WHEN THE REMEDY PART BECOMES AVAILABLE, YOUR AUTHORIZED KIA DEALER WILL REPLACE THE LOW-PRESSURE FUEL TUBE WITH A NEW IMPROVED ONE.
