Fred (employee) misdiagnosed a minor coolant system leak for a blown head gasket (with no evidence or test results) and quoted around $6600.00 to repair. Joaquin asked that since I had a blown engine would I be interested in selling him my truck. The Ford dealer found a leaking T-stat and leaking defroster hose, but no evidence of a head gasket leak after repeated tests. They also said that the dealer repair cost for a head gasket replacement is around $1500.00 to $1800.00 depending on if both sides need to be replaced. Joaquin charged me for the faulty diagnosis and for the restocking fee for the unnecessary parts (around $375.00). The result is that I had the Ford dealer do the repairs and all of the required 100,000 mile maintenance plus replace the water pump for around four thousand dollars less than having my vehicle disassembled by Fred. These guys did a killer job. I also appreciated that they gave me a detailed breakdown online of services recommended for my car, itemized by cost, to individually approve or decline, rather than them just doing stuff and charging me for it, it's the most in control i've ever felt with a mechanic, and I loved it. car drives great now! Friendly staff tried to answer my questions, able to get my car taken car of in just 1 day. Only downside is they will advise you to replace parts based on their own estimates without actually checking the condition of the car.... for example a suggestion to change an air filter without actually looking to see it is brand new. Charged 356$ to tighten a bleed screw and de-grease surrounding area (calipers, rotor ect.). Seems pricey to me, Would have appreciated it if the mechanic would have left more detailed notes about what was actually done.
