Pep Boys

Took in my truck for a tire sensor issue and asked for some deeper handling issues to be looked at. I was give a quote for over $6k the next day. The thing is, not only was I told that several items that had been installed by a local shop within the last year were worn out, I was given a "dire situation" summary. In deciding to go to another locally owned shop for a second opinion, over 50% of the quoted work was reported as bogus, false, and unnecessary. I proceeded with that garage, was shown exactly how misled I was by Pep Boys, and had the required work done for less than 50% of the original quote. Case in point, Pep Boys is a national chain that puts pressure on its stores for revenue. If you want true honesty and transparency, stay local.

This was a really disappointing service. I had a 1:30 appointment and was told that they could not get to me until later possibly as late as 6 o’clock. The online scheduling does not talk to the system in the franchises so they do not know how backed up they are with walkins. I was actually asked if I could wait that long to get my oil changed. In their favor, the service attendants were great, they were very friendly, and tried to accommodate as best they could with the tools that they had.

Jesus took really good care of us when we pulled up. He put our spare on in less than 2 minutes and I left the rim so they could put a new tire on it. Everyone was friendly from the beginning to the end. Highly recommend!
